The
International Symposium on Women and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is the
premier international symposium developed to bring distinguished leaders from around the globe to address the under-representation of women in the field of
ICT. Highly published authors Jo Sanders, Sue
Rosser, and Sophia Huyer will be joined by international corporate leaders to address the
global economy and the necessity for the full participation of women in technology
endeavors. The goal of the symposium is to create an action agenda to increase
significantly within 5 years, the international participation of girls and women in ICT,
including leadership of women in technology businesses. Unlike traditional
conferences, participants are actively engaged in all sessions. Your participation
is requested to help develop an action agenda.
The U.S. Ambassador to the UN Commission for Women, Ellen
Sauerbrey, serves as honorary Chair.
Organized by the Center for Women and Information Technology (CWIT) at the
University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), the World Trade Center Institute (WTCI),
and the Women in Global Science and Technology (WIGSAT), held in cooperation with ACM
SIGMOD.
*A laptop computer, provided by
Dell, will given away as a door prize at the conclusion of the Symposium. You must
be present to win.
The conference is open to the first 300 registrants. It will be presented in
English. |
