Community Connections Program Huge Success!
BALTIMORE, Maryland August 22, 2007
After an incredible stay, WTCI bid farewell today to one of the most memorable groups of international visitors the organization has seen.
Ten professionals from Belarus came to Baltimore on August 1st to participate in a business education and training program while living with local American families. The participants met with numerous members of the area business education community, including federal and state education administration and curriculum implementation agencies, as well as regulatory bodies and private career training centers. The group will surely take back valuable techniques and new ideas to share with their Belarusian counterparts.
This “Community Connection” program is sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), with acting program agent World Learning. The purpose of the Community Connections program is to contribute to the economic and democratic development of Eurasia and promote mutual understanding by exposing participants to U.S. society.
The hallmark of the program is for visitors to experience America through home stays and various cultural and community activities. Some of the favorites included the Annapolis tour, cocktail parties, a crab fiesta and of course, a trip to New York City.
