Kielty Receives Thunderbird’s Distinguished Alumni Award in Career Achievement
Thunderbird, the first and oldest U.S. international graduate business school, honored World Trade Center Institute (WTCI) President and Executive Director Deborah Kielty with the Distinguished Alumni Award in Career Achievement last week. Kielty, the second women ever to receive this honor, has worked in international business for nearly 25 years. The most recent of these years has been spent leading WTCI, the largest international business network in the mid-Atlantic region. Kielty credits her international pursuits to Thunderbird.
“Thunderbird gave me my international wings – wings that have afforded me the opportunity to successfully conduct business in more than 50 countries and to lead the largest international business network of its kind in the mid-Atlantic region,” remarked Kielty to her fellow Thunderbird alumni.
Immediately prior to joining WTCI, Kielty served as vice president of Global Alliances & Licensing and general manager of Worldwide Strategic Planning for Procter & Gamble Beauty Care, based in Maryland. She also served as managing director of Procter & Gamble Health & Beauty Care Europe, based first as associate advertising manager in Rome and later as managing director of cosmetics in London. Prior to that, Kielty served as brand manager and associate advertising manager of Procter & Gamble de Mexico based in Mexico City.
Kielty’s passion for international spans every part of her life. Whether she is connecting Marylanders to international business opportunities at WTCI, or serving on such Boards as Baltimore’s Council on Foreign Affairs, Maryland’s Families with Children From China, or the University of Maryland’s Center for International Business Education and Research, she is always happy to share her experience and leadership.
Kielty will highlight Maryland’s impressive global growth at WTCI’s 17th Anniversary Event: Spanning the Globe in 60 Minutes on Thursday, December 14. This international forum and year end celebration features top executives from Northrop Grumman, Phillips Foods, Johns Hopkins’ affiliate JHPIEGO and M&T Bank, alongside key public sector officials including Chancellor Brit Kirwan, Secretary Aris Melissaratos and Governor-Elect Martin O’Malley (invited). Attendees can get a taste of international by feasting on Phillips Foods “south of the border” menu and feeling the rhythm of a Latin band!
