MEDEX Global Group Bruce Kirby, President & CEO Wins
Maryland International Business Leadership Award

Baltimore, March 8, 2005 ---  Bruce Kirby, President & CEO of MEDEX Global Group was selected as one of only seven winners for this year's Maryland International Business Leadership Awards.  The award is presented to an individual within a Maryland company who has led their company to new global heights, demonstrating an entrepreneurial spirit, determination, creativity and the cultural sensitivity that global business demands.

MEDEX Global Group, a privately-held company headquartered in Towson, Maryland is a recognized leader in global travel assistance and international medical insurance.  Operating a 24-hour multilingual assistance center, MEDEX provides global medical assistance expertise and an unsurpassed network of more than 350,000 providers, including credentialed air ambulance resources, credentialed hospitals, and credentialed doctors around the world.

MEDEX handles over 25,000 cases annually and provides coverage to millions of members though relationships with multinational corporations, scholastic organizations, individual business and leisure travelers, and more.    Larger clients include Black & Decker, McCormick, T. Rowe Price, and more.   MEDEX Coordinators and Regional Medical Advisors speak a collective total of 54 languages and also have an impressive ability to speak physician-to-physician in 34 different languages.

Bruce sites Maryland's educated and diverse workforce as a major strength for his organization, where multilingual capabilities are key.   In November 2003, MEDEX management team was able to further centralize the organization, closing one international call center and expanding the Towson operation to provide services 24/7.  By the end of 2004, MEDEX had increased their workforce by 15%.  A recent internal survey shows nearly 70% of MEDEX staff attended a college or university in Maryland.  While the vast majority of MEDEX employees are Maryland-based, international representatives are in markets from Beijing to Istanbul to the U.K. and beyond.  Indeed Bruce will soon head to China with the CEO Club and looks forward to celebrating his 50th birthday in China.

Bruce is a product of both UMBC and Towson University.  He first came to MEDEX in 1999 as the CFO, following a 20+ year career at Monumental Life.  His solid foundation in Finance and Management prepared him to not only handle the financial challenges of MEDEX but to assume responsibility as CEO in 2000.  Under his leadership, the company secured additional investment of $4 Million from its shareholders to build a global infrastructure for future growth.  With his strength in team management, Bruce led his management team in a comprehensive strategic planning effort.  Since that time, MEDEX has grown by more than 50%.  Projected for 2005, revenue growth is expected to reach 20%, with significant growth potential for MEDEX in both web based initiatives and with new products.

Bruce is married, with four children, is a member of the CEO Club and is active on the Boards of U.S. Travel Insurance Association and Christ Church Foundation.
