Former Vice President, McCormick
Nearly three decades ago, Dr. James Albrecht became one of the founding board members of the World Trade Center Institute. As passionate and forward thinking now as he was then, this year we are grateful and honored to recognize him as a founding member of WTCI’s exciting new Global Pathways for Students (GPS) program. Prior to his time as Vice President at McCormick & Company, Dr. Albrecht’s career as a distinguished scientist and respected leader also included prominent positions at Coca-Cola Company and Nestle. Dr. Albrecht’s vision and giving has long been laser-focused in nature. In his own words, he’s “interested in knowing [he’s] making a difference in the lives of young people.” And that’s exactly what he’s been doing for as long as we can tell. Originally from Chicago, it is Baltimore that Jim now calls home. He speaks highly of the city and feels a strong sense of responsibility when it comes to supporting and mentoring Baltimore City students, which is one of the many reasons we are so excited and honored to have him on board. In addition to his work with students and efforts to help steer young people towards successful careers, Jim has a special interest in food security and ensuring the availability of safe, potable water, particularly as the world’s population continues to grow. Hidden talent: One thing you might not know about Jim is that he is also an accomplished pianist who has composed several albums with Makeda Rose, a talented Baltimore City vocalist.
