“The EDGE experience was truly a unique opportunity to learn more about Baltimore industry, leadership but mostly about yourself. At the start of the year I was eager to hear from the various Baltimore leaders we would be engaging with throughout the year but little did I know that some of the greatest takeaways came from peer to peer discussions we would have both within the sessions and outside of them. Over the year though I started to learn more about myself. I learned more about what drives me, what intimidates me and how perfectly talented I am in my own right as was every single other Bowe fellow. Two of the greatest takeaways came from the first class on communications with Gerry Sandusky: truly knowing and representing YOUR brand and communication above the visible line. The second great take away came in the global negotiations class with Ron Shapiro. Know when to walk away. I have met some of the most wonderful people all with various backgrounds and skill sets but all with the common goal of a desire for continued learning. On a business note I made a fabulous connection at Proctor and Gamble and while WR Grace does not work directly with Tabata’s group we have started a joint project with their R&D cosmetics team. It was a pairing that may not have ever taken place otherwise. It’s been a phenomenal year. Every single fellow WANTED to be there and was enthusiastic about helping facilitate thought provoking discussion or simply making you laugh. I am sincerely humbled by the level of talent and commitment by every single person I met through the program and was so honored to be part of the inaugural class.”
