Pamela Kaufman Wagoner is President of Upstream Insights, LLC, a consultancy focused on helping individuals reach their leadership potential. She started this consulting practice after thirty years of leading global human resources, training, and employee communications in public and private companies.
Pamela works with clients to provide assessment and coaching to high potential managers, new directors and senior leaders. She uses a variety of tools including those focused on emotional and social intelligence, personality and communication styles, and leadership traits to create awareness with her clients. With a special interest in helping women move into leadership roles in companies and the community, Pamela works with individuals and groups, focusing as a coach and mentor and matching women to sponsors for advancement. She also provides coaching to the new millennial and generation Z worker.
Pamela is an authorized partner, coach and consultant of The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team™, an assessment-based facilitation tool and program designed to help professionals and their organizations build cohesive, effective teams. The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team™ is an assessment-based learning program powered by Everything DiSC®, that outlines the essential behaviors to a healthy, well functioning team: building trust, mastering conflict, achieving commitment, embracing accountability, and focusing on results.
Program Design and Facilitation
Over the years, Pamela has developed a deep understanding of how to match personal motivation with organization objectives to improve alignment, organizational performance and engagement. Pamela designs learning programs for companies focused on a wide range of topics from leadership to sales strategies, ensuring a blended learning approach and follow-up as key principals in her design. Pamela will often personally facilitate for leadership teams or develop leaders as teachers.
Areas of expertise
Prior to starting her own consulting company, Pamela was the Chief Human Resources Officer for W. R. Grace & Co (Grace) for five years. During her tenure, Pamela was also responsible for Corporate Communications and was Chairman of the W. R. Grace Foundation, Inc. Before taking her position at Grace, Pamela was with Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. (Host), a Fortune 500 real estate investment trust and owner of upscale hotels for eight years. She was the Executive Officer responsible for Human Resources and Employee Communications and cared for the culture of the organization. Pamela previously held senior HR positions at SAVVIS Communications, Yurie Systems, Inc.,
and Lucent Technologies, Inc. Prior to these positions, she spent eight years working in HR and vocational rehabilitation with at-risk youth and individuals with special needs and three years in State Government in Pennsylvania.
Education and Affiliations
Pamela graduated with her degree in Speech Communications from The Pennsylvania State University. She has her Coaching Certificate from The Hudson Institute. Pamela holds a variety of certifications in assessment tools from HayGroup, the Center for Creative Leadership, The Myers & Briggs Foundation, and Linkage. Pamela currently serves on the Advisory Board for The Office of Executive Programs for the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland and is on the Board of Trustees of the Howard Hospital Foundation and serves as the Secretary on the Executive Committee of the Howard Hospital Foundation.
