“For me some of the key takeaways of the EDGE sessions were the emerging opportunities for Virtual Reality as a tool for marketing; and the importance of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act for companies or organizations (such as mine) that do business in multiple countries overseas. The session on negotiations was a particular highlight as it offered the chance to engage in simulated exercises around two case studies. But the major advantage to my participation was the opportunity to interact with peers from a variety of businesses, and to learn from them. Alice Lao, for example, offered invaluable insight from her experiences in expatriate taxation policies which were helpful to LWR as we implemented a new taxation policy of our own. And Trisha McRoberts facilitated an introduction to McCormick’s procurement division which has led so far to productive conversations around agricultural value chains that both LWR and McCormick support in Africa, and an invitation by McCormick for LWR to present to their buyers on issues related to sustainable agricultural practices.”
